Centerville residents pack the house over development

CENTERVILLE, Ohio (WDTN) – Neighbors sounded off in Centerville Tuesday evening, making sure city leaders know their feelings about a planned development in the Pleasant Hill neighborhood.

People were overflowing into the hallway when the meeting started at 7:30, with some of them being sent to a room in the basement.

The people who spoke up all shared similar concerns – how safe it would be for anyone walking if Zengel Drive becomes a connector for Clyo Road and Far Hills Avenue, the property value of their homes, and the appearance and quality of the type of house Ryan homes plans to build.

At the end, the Centerville planning commission passed a preliminary plan onto city council. They made three recommendations to the first plan:

  • Do not make Zengel Drive a full connector – make it a double cul-de-sac, and name the eastern part something else, not Zengel Drive.
  • Put a mid-block walkway in the development, east to west.
  • All homes must have a brick wrap around the first floor.

City commission will have public hearing April 21.
