Dayton Flyers in Memphis for the Sweet 16

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The University of Dayton men’s basketball team are in Memphis to compete in the NCAA Sweet 16.

Dayton will take on Stanford inside FedExForum at 7:15 p.m. Thursday.

2 NEWS and WDTN.com were there live as the team left the Cronin Center on the University of Dayton campus at 4:00 p.m. and left aboard a plane at the airport.

Members of the UD student fan group the Red Scare and community fans sent the team off with cheers, chants and signs.

Dayton, a No. 11 seed, has already defeated No. 6 seed Ohio State and No. 3 Syracuse for its first run in the Sweet 16 since 1984.  Standford, a No. 10 seed, knocked off No. 2 Kansas in a close 60-57  game Sunday to advance to the Sweet 16 for the first time in six years.
