WEST CARROLLTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The City of West Carrollton has a new police chief.

Deputy Chief Douglas Woodard was named to the post Wednesday. He was serving as interim chief since October 2013.

He has been on the West Carrollton force since 1988.

“Doug was clearly number one coming out of the assessment center and the unanimous choice of the interview panel,” said City Manager Brad Townsend. “The city received assistance from the Ohio Association Chiefs of Police to conduct the search process. He has definitely earned the job.”

Woodard replaces retired Chief Rick Barnhart.
