SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) – The Springfield Board of Education approved a new three year contract with the teachers union Thursday.

The new agreement begins in July and will run through June 2017.

Teachers were under a basic salary freeze for the past three years to help the cash strapped district, but will now get a 2 percent raise in return.

The union says 85 percent of its members agreed to the new terms.
