Hit King teams up with Pizza King

KETTERING, Ohio (WDTN) -Cincinnati Reds Legend Pete Rose is no stranger to the Ketttering staple Cassano’s Pizza.

“A lot of people don’t know but, Cassono’s Pizza and I go back to 1960 because in the spring of 1960, I played in the Dayton AA Amateur League,” explains Rose.

His favorite pizza topping?

“Pepperoni and extra cheese,” says Rose.

To celebrate Cassano’s 60th anniversary, the Pizza King and the Hit King are teaming up for a charity event “An Evening for Pete Rose LIVE!”

It will take place June 24th at Fraze Pavilion.

Rose stopped by the location on Stroop Road Tuesday to announce the partnership.

All of money raised will go towards the Cassano’s CARES Foundation to provide nourishment to local families in Crisis.

“Dayton is really nice community, nice community, very supportive of the Reds community and I played with the Reds so many years.  I was raised in Cincinnati.  So, I used to have a Lincoln-Mecury dealership in Kettering.  You know my uncle worked in Kettering at NCR.  That’s the guy who signed me to a baseball contract.  So, this is not my first day in Dayton, Ohio today,” comments Rose.

Cassano’s is also giving away a Corvette.
