Child pulled from Butler Co. pond dies

WEST CHESTER, Ohio (WDTN) – A 9-month-old girl rushed to the hospital after her stroller rolled into a pond has died.

The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office said Bella Shi passed away overnight. Her death has been ruled accidental.

Rescue crews were called to the 8200 block of Windy Harbor Way in West Chester just before 2:30 p.m. Monday.

Shi was with her grandparents and some other children. She was strapped in the stroller when it rolled off the path into water about 10 feet deep.

Divers said they found the girl and the stroller submerged in the water about 5 to 6 feet off the bank.

She was flown to Children’s Hospital.

Firefighters said by the time they could find her and pull her out, she’d been underwater for at least 28 minutes. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
