Personal plea can’t save Trotwood store

TROTWOOD, Ohio (WDTN) – Despite a valiant effort from city leaders to stop it, the Trotwood Target will be closing.

The mayor and city manager made their pitch to Target corporate in Minneapolis Monday, delivering a petition signed by almost 2500 residents. But officials were not swayed, and still plan to close the Shiloh Springs Rd. store in May.

The city manager did ensure that the company took responsibility for maintaining the building and providing security.

Target also agreed to work with other retailers to develop the property, a move it has had success with in the past. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
