Lingering water causes concern for drivers

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Rain can wreak havoc on your car and cause thousands of dollars worth of damage.

After it rains, the Collision Center of Dayton said it sees a boost in business from crashes, but it’s usually not for two or three days because insurance claims need some time process.

The body shop has about ten cars scheduled for service Monday.

Manager Brad Hamilton said the damage may appear minor on the outside, but can be extensive inside, costing you thousands of dollars. He said it’s not as common, but they do see damage when people try to drive through high water and their car ingests water and stalls.

“We just went through a really bad snow season.  People were using wipers to clear their windows.  That’s really rough on them so they’re not clearing your windshield as well as they really should.  So, some new wipers is huge,” said Hamilton.

Hamilton said it’s also important to check your tires. Make sure you have enough tread and they’re properly inflated. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
