Fire victim identified, in critical condition


MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (WDTN) – A Middletown woman was critically injured after her apartment caught fire.

Firefighters were called to the 2300 block of South Stuphin Street around 6:15 Wednesday morning.

The victim, Malisa Faye Cheeseman, 32, suffered burns to the back of her body and severe smoke inhalation.  She was last listed in critical condition at Miami Valley Hospital.

A second woman, Kelli McNutt, 24, suffered injuries to her face, but left the hospital against doctor’s orders.

A 5-year-old girl, Riley McNutt, also suffered smoke inhalation.  She was treated and released.

The fire marshal says the fire started in the living room of the apartment.  Damage is estimated at $95,000.
