2 sixth graders charged with gravestone vandalism

PIQUA, Ohio (WDTN) – Two children are accused of damaging gravestones at a Piqua granite company.

Piqua police say a 12-year-old boy and a 13-year-old boy are charged in juvenile court with vandalism.

Both boys are sixth graders.

Police say they got a tip as to who the suspects were and made the arrests.

Nineteen gravestones were damaged beyond repair at Piqua Granite on North Main Street.

The boys were released to the custody of their parents and are awaiting their first court appearance.
