COLUMBUS, Ohio (WDTN) – A major victory for activists fighting against fracking in Ohio.

For the first time, state regulators are linking earthquake activity in Ohio to hydraulic fracturing.

Drilling has been stopped indefinitely near Youngstown. That is where five minor tremors have occurred.

State Oil and Gas officials says Ohio will now require sensitive seismic monitoring as a condition of all new drilling permits.

That will be required for all permits within three miles of a known fault.
