Officers respond to disturbance at Belmont HS

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Police were called to a Dayton high school after a fight broke out among a group of students.

Four police cruisers responded to Belmont High School around 3:50 p.m. Friday on reports of a disturbance. When officers arrived, they found a large group of students gathered near the east parking lot of the school.

According to staff members, a fight broke out between two male students. One of the student’s female cousins stepped in and started fighting as well.

Belmont staff tried to break up the fight. According to the police report, one of the students threatened a teacher when she tried to pull her out of the fight. The student resisted, kicking staff and spitting on the school resource officer. The school resource officer then handcuffed the student to a metal bench.

The student was detained in the back of a Dayton Police cruiser once officers arrived.

A family member picked up two of the students from the school.

Police completed a summons arrest of the three juveniles for disorderly conduct.

The school told police they will not press charges for assault or menacing.

Detectives will be reviewing video footage of the fight.
