DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Two men are behind bars after police say they broke into a couple’s home.
Richard Inman, 24, and Reginald Woodson Jr., 26, were arrested on charges of aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary.
Officers were called to a duplex in the 1000 block of Highland Avenue around 5 a.m. Sunday.
The couple told police they were upstairs in their bedroom sleeping when they woke up to banging and sounds of breaking glass.
The husband went to investigate and said he found two men had broken in downstairs and were demanding cash. One of them was holding a pistol. He told police the pair led him through the house while pointing the pistol at him, searching rooms and drawers for money.
Meanwhile, the wife made her way into the attic to hide and call 911.
When officers arrived, they found that the glass of the back door had been shattered. When police went inside, they found Inman and Woodson upstairs. Both of the suspects were taken into custody without incident.
Police found the husband face down on the ground with his hands stretched out in front of him in the upstairs bedroom. They found the wife hiding in the attic. Neither was hurt.
Officers were able to locate the gun reportedly used in the incident under a mattress in the bedroom.
Police searched the suspects before arresting them and found that they had taken a $5 bill, two $1 bills, and an iPhone 4S cell phone from one of the victims.
Inman and Woodson were booked into the Montgomery County Jail. They’re expected in court on Monday.
