DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The visit to Dayton by Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx is part of his multi-state tour as he is highlights the need to invest in the country’s transportation infrastructure.

All this, despite the lack of money for the highway trust fund and the looming expiration of some surface transportation programs.

The recent work will create three continuous lanes on I-75 in Dayton between Fifth Street and Riverview Avenue.  Foxx also discussed how the work along I-75 creates jobs, economic growth for the region and shows how highway projects help meet transportation needs.

Many of the roads closed won’t be back open until the project wraps up in September of 2017.  That includes US 35 eastbound to 75 northbound and parts of First Street. The ramps for First, Second and Third Streets are all expected to re-open in December of 2016. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
