DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – It’s the busiest day of the year for a local candy maker.
Esther Price’s recipe for success keeps generation after generation coming back for more.
“The kids really look forward to coming and seeing the Easter Bunny.”
Peter Cottontail hops down Wayne Avenue to attract hungry customers into the candy store.
“The company is 88 years old, so it’s been here a long while. We’ve got third generations coming in here,” said Jim Day, General Manager and President of Esther Price. “It keeps the kids happy.”
From chocolate eggs to baskets stocked with candy, the goodies are melting off store shelves and into Easter baskets of kids and adults across the Miami Valley.
What is it about Esther Price Candies that keep people coming back year after year?
“Esther is like a legend. People come back time and time again. We’re kinda like a college or high school. They all come back home to roost.”
People have good taste and it is a growing one.
There are four stores in the Dayton area, two in Cincinnati and the company just opened one in West Chester.
The Wayne Avenue store will be open Saturday as well and look for the waving bunny outside.
