New oxygen chamber heals more wounds

MIAMISBURG, Ohio (WDTN) – A state of the art chamber to stimulate hard to heal wounds is open at Sycamore Medical Center in Miamisburg.

Kettering Health Network boasts being the largest diameter hyperbaric chamber in Ohio.  It can handle 12 people at a time with its therapy using 100 percent oxygen to treat sores that are not closing.

The chamber’s pressurization is compared to that of scuba diving. The more oxygen you get into the bloodstream, the faster the healing process.

The patients who will come to the Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine Center at 4000 Miamisburg-Centerville Road in Miamisburg are suffering from diseases with poor bone and tissue healing prognoses.

There is a hyperbaric chamber at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base that will now be deactivated.  Military personnel and their dependents will now be treated at the Sycamore location.
