MIAMI TWP., Ohio (WDTN) – A condo fire in Miami Township killed five cats and a dog Monday evening.

Crews were called to 6492 Quintessa Court just before 6:00 p.m.

Firefighters did evacuate eight units when they arrived. Luckily, no one was hurt.

Fire damage was limited to one unit on the first floor.

The animals could not be saved.

“Unfortunately, we got here at the point where they had already been overcome by smoke inhalation. There was nothing we could do about that.” Battalion Chief Steve Meadows Miami Valley Fire District.

Investigators are checking whether the fire started in the kitchen, but no official ruling was determined.
