Mass hiring effort at Dayton Raceway

Mass hiring effort underway at new career center

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Help wanted at the Hollywood Gaming at the Dayton Raceway.

The career center officially opened Wednesday.  Not only can you apply for jobs, but you can also on recruiting and training new employees.

It is located on the south side of Needmore Road between Interstate 75 and Webster Street, not at the site of the racino construction.

Penn National Gaming officials have promised 1,000 construction jobs plus an additional 1,000 direct or indirect jobs once the facility is built.

We talked with a former member of the US Air Force who was one of the first hires Wednesday.

Robert Neff will work as a virtual lottery technician.

He tells us the hiring process turned out to be pretty fun.

“It’s kind of different than most interviews I’ve seen.  When you first walk in, you’re part of the team.  The very first minute everyone i sitting in the same area.  They do a couple of group exercises. Everybody gets together and they have the answers.  They speak on their own.  They speak as a group.  It’s just a teamwork type of environment,” says Neff.

We’ve checked and despite weather delays, the Dayton Raceway is still scheduled to open this October.

Horse racing will be up and running October 3.
