City hall evacuation blamed on bad boiler

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) – Employees at Springfield city hall are back inside after and odor of gas forced an evacuation of the building Tuesday morning.

City Manager Jim Bodenmiller told 2 NEWS the odor of natural gas was detected around 8 a.m.

The fire department was called and employees were evacuated from the building.

Crews from Columbia Gas found the source was coming from a boiler.

It was shut down for repairs and the employees returned to work.
