Beavercreek daycare “Growing up Wild”

BEAVERCREEK, Ohio (WDTN) –A Greene County daycare center received a special award from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources on Wednesday.

Evergreen Children’s Center in Beavercreek was named a “growing up wild” school. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources hands out the awards to groups that focus on outdoor education.

Evergreen’s director Jill Gordon said they take full advantage of the large wooded area right in their backyard.”I hope it makes our focus in nature based play, nature based preschool, because that’s so important now. Kids just don’t get outside enough,” said Gordon.

As part of the award presentation,  kids made crafts with outdoor materials, and had snack and reading lessons on the trails.

Evergreen is only the second “growing up wild” school in Greene county.
