Third day of searching for missing canoeists

RIPLEY, Ohio (WDTN) – Search crews were back on the water along the Ohio River Tuesday to look for two missing Troy men.

They spent a third day looking for Marty Stanaford, 19, and Cameron Buerger, 20.  Searchers were onboard three boats and using sonar to scan the water.

They disappeared over the weekend while canoeing along the Ohio River in Ripley, Ohio.  Only their cooler has been found so far near the Meldahl Dam.

A female friend says she didn’t go on the canoe with them, but she watched them leave and even talked to them by cell phone while they were out on the water.

Both of the men can swim, but they did not have life jackets.
