DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The victim in the VA Medical Center shooting incident was struck in the ankle.

We stopped by his Dayton home Monday. No one was home, but neighbors believe he has daughters in high school or college that live with him.

They describe him as a nice man, but one who keeps to himself.

Paul Burnside, 61, is being treated for his injuries.

Police say he struggled with Neil Moore, 59, in a basement break room at the VA Center.

Many of Burnside’s neighbors say they aren’t particularly close with Burnside, but they see him going to and from work every day.

Most of the neighbors say they’re surprised to hear he was the victim.

One man says Burnside is outside a lot and likes to work on cars.

The FBI is now handling the investigation. We are working on exactly what Burnside did for the VA Medical Center.
