Cops: Teen’s joyride comes to a crashing halt

FAIRBORN, Ohio (WDTN) – A teen trying to take off with someone’s ride crashed it into a house Wednesday morning.

Police told 2 NEWS a 14-year-old walking to school spotted a pickup idling in a driveway along Dayton-Yellow Springs Road in Fairborn.

He hopped in, and in an attempt to pull a quick U-turn, smashed into the house next door.

The truck hit where a bedroom is located and one of the homeowners was jolted awake by the impact and a shower of drywall. She was not injured.

The teen took off running and police caught up with him at Fairborn High School.

A Fairborn officer said the teen “faces a slew of charges”, including auto theft, fleeing a scene, and driving without a license, as well as a number of traffic violations.
