DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A man was arrested at an accident scene after police say he punched a car crash victim.

Samuel Yohannes, 30, was arrested on charges of assault and misconduct at an emergency scene.

When police arrived at the intersection of Monument Street and Main Street around 2:40 a.m. Saturday where the crash occurred, they found Yohannes being detained by several fire department employees.

Crews said Yohannes had attacked the car crash victim.

The fire department told police they were on scene trying to assess injuries when Yohannes drove through the crash scene, jumped out of his car, and then ran over to the victim and punched him in the face.

Police talked with the victim who said he didn’t remember being punched. Officers said he smelled of alcohol. He was detained for DUI.

Five people were hurt in the two car accident. They are all expected to recover.

Yohannes was booked into the Montgomery County Jail.
