Suspect assaults homeless in parking lot

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Dayton Police are investigating after a man assaulted a homeless person in a parking lot.

Police were called to the parking lot of Mendelson’s Department Store at 507 East First Street around 1 a.m. Friday.

According to police, the suspect ran up behind two people who are homeless and punched one of them in the back of the head.

The suspect then ran towards Keowee Street.

Police said the suspect knows the victims.

Officers are still investigating.
