BROWN CO., Ohio (WDTN) – The Ohio Department of Natural Resources says the body of a second canoeist was located Tuesday afternoon.
The body was recovered around 2:30 p.m. in the Ohio River between the White Oak Creek and Straight Creek. It is near Higginsport where family members of the missing canoeists have centered their search.
The body of Cameron Buerger, 20, was located about five miles upstream from where his friend, Marty Stanaford, 19, was found last week. The Bracken County Coroner’s Office in Kentucky made the identification.
The friends went missing May 3 while on a canoeing trip. Teams of volunteers and first responders spent every day since then working to find the men.
