DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The bomb squad safely removed an old artillery shell from a Dayton neighborhood Tuesday evening.

Crews were called to the 100 block of Beechwood Avenue around 4:30 p.m.

12 homes were evacuated as a precaution, while some other residents were told to stay inside until the shell was safely removed sometime after 8:00 p.m.

The Dayton Bomb Squad and the Wright-Patterson Air Force Bomb Squad both responded.
