RIVERDALE, Ohio (WDTN) – A school security camera captured an Ohio teacher violently grabbing a 6-year-old boy.

While the woman is now suspended, the boy’s parents say the punishment doesn’t go far enough.

“I was crying. I like I said it broke my heart to see my child get harmed by, by a complete stranger,” said Autumn Nelson, child’s mother.

The surveillance video from Riverdale Schools in Hancock County captured the exchange.

You can see 6-year-old Ian Nelson walking alone into a school bathroom.

When he comes out, his teacher, who appears to be looking for the kindergartner, can be seen grabbing him, picking him up and pushing him against a wall.

She then grabs his face, his shirt and picks him up again, jostling him. His neck appeared to snap backward.

“You don’t ever want somebody’s child to go through that. You know and that’s not what we’re about and you know and we, we move forward,” said Eric Hoffman, Superintendent of Riverdale Local Schools.

The boy’s father says he was told his son was in trouble for going to the wrong bathroom.

Barb Williams, the kindergarten teacher, is on unpaid leave for ten days.

Her suspension ends the day before summer break.

The sheriff’s office in Riverdale is now investigating the case.
