VA cancels Memorial Day parade

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The Dayton VA Center will no longer include a parade as part of its Memorial Day activities.

VA officials told 2 NEWS the parade was dropped in an effort to return to “the true purpose of the holiday: to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.”

The center will instead be host a Veterans Day parade to take the place of the Memorial Day Parade. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
