Explosive device found in Dayton

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The Dayton Bomb Squad removed an explosive device found in the Burkhardt neighborhood.

During a traffic stop, an officer heard a boom near 47 Parnell Avenue and saw a car speeding off.

He found what he believed to be a pipe bomb and a damaged recycling bin.

Police blocked off nearby streets and evacuated a few homes while they investigated.

The bomb squad removed the device to a safe place to dispose of it.
