MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (WDTN) – Middletown police say a shooting suspect pointed a gun at police before his arrest.

Officers arrived in the area of Cleveland Street and Hill Avenue shortly before 1:00 p.m. Tuesday to investigate the shooting.

They arrived to find the suspect running away. Officers say they pursued the suspect who pointed a gun at their cruiser before throwing the weapon down.

Nathaniel Turnbow, 21, of Cincinnati, is accused of shooting and beating William McCarty, 26, of Middletown.

McCarty is being treated at Atrium Hospital for serious injuries.

Turnbow is now charged with felonious assault, resisting arrest while brandishing a weapon.

The gun police say he used was stolen, so he’s charged with receiving stolen property as well.
