MONTGOMERY CO., Ohio – Local public pools are getting ready to open for the season.

Montgomery County Health officials are getting ready as well, to welcome swimmers by inspecting the pools. There are more than 350 public indoor and outdoor pools in Montgomery County and they are regularly inspected.

That check includes the flow meters that maintain proper circulation, the automatic chlorine dispensers and filtration systems.

Jennifer Wentzel, inspector says the crews check everything from water quality, looking at the bottom of the pool, the sanitizer to disinfect, safety equipment as well as the spine board and reach pole.

Public outdoor pools are checked randomly every 2 weeks in the summer and indoor pools are checked throughout the year. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
