SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) – The teenager accused of taking a gun to Kenton Ridge High School Monday made his first court appearance.

The 16-year old boy denied the charges against him in juvenile court. The judge then ordered him held in detention until his next hearing.

The teen is accused of having a gun and ammunition inside his car parked in the school parking lot.

Deputies responded to the school after a classmate told school administrators about the weapon.

It is not clear what the student intended to do with the weapon, but it was not loaded.

A pre-trial hearing date is pending.
