WASHINGTON, D.C. (WDTN) – Congressman Mike Turner gave a shout out to the City of Moraine Wednesday from the floor of the U.S. House.
He thanked the city’s leadership for seeing the re-birth of the old General Motors plant through to its job generating conclusion.
The plant closed during the 2008 recession and community leaders worked diligently to put new life back into the plant.
The biggest success was the announcement that a major portion of the plant was purchased by Chinese auto glass manufacturer Fuyao.
The arrival of Fuyao means hundreds of jobs returning to the community.
“I want to congratulate the Mayor, City Council and City Manager and Economic Director of Moraine for this great accomplishment and teamwork. They rallied the community behind this resource. To the leadership in Moraine, it was great working with you on this project,” said Rep. Turner.
Fuyao received about $9.7 million in tax credits to come to Moraine. It paid $15-million for the property.
