Deputy suspended for selling cell phones

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ohio (WDTN) A K-9 Deputy with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has been suspended for selling cell phones while on-duty.

2 NEWS Investigates confirmed with the Sheriff’s Office that Deputy Gerald Bemis was suspended for three days without pay for the activity.

According to his LinkedIn account, Bemis is the Ohio Law Enforcement K-9 Association President. He was also on the crime task force in Montgomery County but the Sheriff’s Office says he has since been removed.

2 NEWS has requested Bemis’ employment record and is waiting for more information from the Sheriff’s Office.

We’ve also reached out to Bemis for comment, but have not heard back.
