Man shot in Dayton home invasion

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A man is in custody after police say he shot another man in an apparent home invasion.

Police were called to the 2100 block of East Fifth Street around 3 a.m. Saturday.

Rodrigo Ramirez faces charges of felonious assault and aggravated burglary.

According to police, Ramirez kicked in the front door, broke into the home, fired several shots, and shot the victim.

The victim’s two brothers and brother’s girlfriend were also inside the home at the time. One of the brothers told police he fought with Ramirez and hit him in the head with a dumbbell after he heard the shots fired. Police said Ramirez hit one of the brothers in the head with the frame of the gun.

The victim and his brother were taken to Miami Valley Hospital. Their injuries are non-life-threatening.

Ramirez was taken to Grandview Hospital for his injuries before he’s booked into jail.

Police recovered a black revolver from the scene.
