Man stabbed in chest with ice pick

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Dayton police are looking for a suspect in a violent stabbing.

According to police, the stabbing stemmed from a fight that broke out in front of the Band Box in the 3000 block of East Third Street Saturday afternoon.

Officers said the suspect stabbed the victim in the chest with a possible ice pick and then ran from the scene.

Police said the suspect ran to his girlfriend’s apartment nearby to hide. He then ran out the back door. When police questioned her about the incident, she denied knowing him. She was arrested for obstruction of justice.

Officials said they believe the suspect was also injured in the altercation.

They recovered the iron pipe from the scene, which they believe was used in the fight. It’s being processed for evidence.

The victim was taken to the hospital. They believe his injuries are non-life-threatening.

Police are in the process of interviewing witnesses. They’re still looking for the suspect.
