Body of recent Tipp City graduate found in pond

TIPP CITY, Ohio (WDTN) – Dive teams have found the body of a teenager that went into a Tipp City pond.

The incident happened just before 6:00 p.m. Sunday night on the 7300 block of Tipp Canal Road.

Four water rescue teams narrowed down an area where they believed Kyle Quinn, 19, of Tipp City went into the water. Quinn had just graduated from Tippecanoe High School last week.

Sgt. Mark Bayse told 2 NEWS that Quinn jumped off his jet ski because of a mechanical issue.

Witnesses told police the man was trying to swim back to shore. He went down in the water once. Quinn then resurfaced and yelled for help before sinking again.

Police say Quinn was not wearing a life jacket when he went into the water. The pond used to be an old rock quarry.

Officials said cadaver dogs and sonar technology were brought in to assist in the search. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
