DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN)- Hundreds of people attended the Memorial Day program at the Dayton National Cemetery where Guest Speaker, Lt. Gen. (Ret.) John L. Hudson told them it’s a day to “pay forward.” Hudson now serves as Director of the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force.
“It is also a chance to renew personal commitment to service, to pay forward, to pay the path forward for our children and all those who are to come,” said Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Hudson.
Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley and Congressman Mike Turner also spoke. Veteran John Seibel of 2 NEWS Today served as Master of Ceremonies.
All of those who participated received what is called a “challenge coin” which was first given out by a lieutenant in World War I. It is credited with saving the life of a soldier.
