DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A progress report on the development of the new Hollywood Dayton Raceway.
Work is underway at the construction site on Needmore Road and Wagner Ford Roads. The shell of the building looks to be complete and lights are up.
The raceway’s general manager, Gary Dewitt, says things are on track for a fall opening but stopped short of giving a specific date. What we do know is that the first day of racing is set for October 3rd..
Also, hiring has started and to date, more than 60 people have accepted jobs. Dewitt says in all they plan to hire five hundred. Initial estimates were one thousand jobs.
But Dewitt says there’s an explanation for that. “That was direct and indrect. We believe that we’ll have about a one to one impact on the local area. So that was direct and indirect. And one thing that I didn’t mention, actually, is as recently as last week, we had over 220 construction workers on site helping us get ready for our opening. So a lot of construction jobs going on as well.”
If you’d like to apply for a job, you can do so online.
