School bus and car collide

GERMANTOWN, Ohio (WDTN) – A school bus was involved in an accident in Germantown Wednesday morning.

The bus and a car collided at the intersection of Market Street and SR 4 around 8:30 a.m.

There were 55 Germantown Elementary School students on the Valley View Local School District bus.

Seven were taken to local hospitals with what police said were minor injuries.

The rest of the students were transferred to another bus went on to school.

“We wanted to make sure we had done our due diligence with these kids. I walked one in particular to the bus, a second grader that was crying because she was just emotional at that point. This isn’t something that happens very often thank goodness, and I know it was an emotional morning for our students,” said Superintendent Bill Kirby, Valley View Local School District. “Any crash is serious and makes us get very concerned and especially when children are involved.”

The drivers involved were not injured.

Police say the car turned left in front of the bus.  No charges were filed, but the investigation continues.
