DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A pre-trial hearing was held in US District Court Thursday for Neil Moore, the man police said opened fire earlier this month at the Dayton VA Medical Center, injuring one person.

Court documents say Moore, who once worked at the VA Center, took the gun to confront former co-workers who he thought were having inappropriate relationships with his wife and daughter, both of whom also work at the VA.

At the hearing, Judge Thomas Rose ordered a mental competency examination for Moore to be performed by federal authorities.

Moore’s attorney asked for the release of all of his past military records.
