Pilot forgot to put landing gear down

VANDALIA, Ohio (WDTN) – The pilot of a small plane made a belly landing at Dayton International Airport Thursday.

Airport personnel confirm that the pilot had trouble with the landing gear of a Cessna 201 just before 2:00 p.m.

State troopers say the ‘trouble’ was that the pilot simply forgot to put the gear down to land.

We’re told the pilot is from Troy and is believed to be in his 70s.

He was the only person on board.  He was able to land the plane on its belly without injury.
