Fire at Church’s Chicken under investigation

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Firefighters investigating a fire inside a Church’s Chicken restaurant say the circumstances are suspicious.

Smoke was billowing from the restaurant in the 2400 block of Gettysburg Avenue when firefighters arrived around 1:30 a.m. Friday.

Firefighters say the fire started in the back of the building and they had some trouble reaching it.

There were some electrical problems, so they also had to wait for Dayton Power & Light to shut off the power.

Once that happened, firefighters say they were able to quickly put the fire out.

They stayed on scene for several hours putting out hot spots.

Officials initially said the building could be repaired, but are now calling it a total loss.
