SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) – Ohio Governor John Kasich is asking the U.S. Small Business Administration to issue a disaster declaration in Clark County in light of damaging storms on May 21.

2 NEWS obtained the governor’s letter to the government agency Friday.

The declaration would make qualified residents and businesses eligible for low interest loans. The loans would not only be available in Clark County, but also Champaign, Greene, Madison, Miami, and Montgomery counties.

Heavy rainfall resulted in flash flooding across the west central counties. State EMA teams are surveying the damage in Tipp City today. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
