DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A 36-year-old man is behind bars after police said he tried to steal scaffolding.

Brian Bolin was arrested on charges of theft.

Officers were called to the First Street Recycling Center at 1321 East First Street around 8:45 a.m. Saturday.

When police arrived, they found Bolin bringing in scaffolding in a shopping cart. Workers said Bolin had also been there the previous day with material.

When officers questioned him, he said he found the scaffolding in an alley near Huffman Avenue and Burkhardt Avenue. Bolin then led police to 16 North Dutoit Street where there was more scaffolding behind the building.

Bolin then admitted he didn’t have permission to take the material.

Police determined the scaffolding belonged to Fayette Drywall and it was returned to the company.

Bolin was booked into jail. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
