DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A woman’s plan to rid her yard of poison ivy backfired Tuesday evening.

Fire crews say she ended up starting a house on fire in the 600 block of Hall Avenue in Dayton.

Investigators say the woman poured gasoline on the weeds and tried to burn them away.

That fire spread to the porch and caused about $3,000 in damage.

The house was vacant.

No one was hurt.
