MORAINE, Ohio (WDTN) – Moraine police want you to be on the lookout for a stolen car.

Officers were called to the Stone Creek Apartments off of Cobblegate Drive around 5:30 p.m.

They responded to a carjacking call.

The victim told police he walked outside to find his car being stolen.

He says he yelled at the suspect to stop and when he didn’t, he fired shots into the left front and rear tires.

Police say the victim owns the gun legally. They say he had a right to try and protect his property, but the case will be presented to prosecutors to discuss any possible charges.

The suspect was still able to drive off and officers say he was last seen driving erratically on I-75 north toward Dayton.

The police are looking for a 1997 dark green Buick LeSabre with Ohio license plate FSJ 2293.

Call the Moraine Police Department at 535-1166 if you spot the car.
