Schade told 2 NEWS Montoya suffered severe head injuries. An investigation into the accident is underway that Schade said could take several weeks.
Nearly 150 of Montoya’s fellow classmates gathered at Valley View High School Thursday night, where he was a freshman.
Jenny Michael, a member of the Valley View School Board said Montoya was a football player, and an FFA member who showed animals at the Montgomery County Fair.
A post on the school district’s website reads, “Our sincere sympathy goes out to the Montoya Family in the loss of their son, VVHS Freshman Levi Montoya. Out thoughts are with them as well as Levi’s many friends at the high school.”
