DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — An argument between a couple lands a man behind bars after police say he fired a gun.
Paul Gray, 40, was arrested on charges of using weapons while intoxicated and improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle.
Police were dispatched to the 1800 block of Valley Street after 12:30 a.m. Sunday on reports of shots fired.
When officers arrived, they found Gray sitting in the driver’s seat of an SUV parked in the driveway. Officers said they believed he was intoxicated.
Police met with Gray’s girlfriend who told them Gray was supposed to pick her up for work. She said when she walked out to his vehicle, she realized he was drunk and they got into an argument. She said she grabbed an MP3 Player and headphones that Gray was wearing while he was driving. She stated Gray demanded she give them back, then he pulled out a gun and fired a round into the ground. That’s when she went back in her house and called police.
She said when she was waiting for police to arrive she heard two more shots.
Police talked with neighbors who also reported hearing the shots.
Gray was booked into the Montgomery County Jail.
